An iconic object in Provençal kitchens, the tian – also called conque – has spanned centuries and maintained its authenticity. Generally large in size, it was once used in homes for washing dishes, food... and sometimes even children! It was placed in the famous "pile" or shallow stone sink of Cassis.
Today, it remains a faithful companion for cooks and lovers of beautiful tables.
Handcrafted in our Aubagne workshops, the Ravel tian is available with or without handles, in green or honey enamel. The enamel, applied on the inside as tradition dictates, ensures the piece is watertight. Each piece, spun and enameled by our artisans, a reminder of the old washbasin, has become either a salad bowl or a large country container.
Beyond its practical use, the tian tells a story: that of Provence and its family kitchens.
The Ravel tian is available in green enamel or honey, from 15 to 35 cm in diameter.
